TSA to check for explosives

"Put your palms forward, please."; that is what you may hear at they airport from now on. Its a random swabbing check they they will do with TSA on your hands. On Christmas Day someone attempted a bombing, the Northwest Flight 253 over Detroit, Michigan, the TSA began a program of swabbing passengers' hands, which could be contaminated by explosive materials, experts say. "The point is to make sure that the air environment is a safe environment," Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said. “TSA screeners currently swab luggage handles and parts of bags that are likely be contaminated by human hands, he said, and swabbing a person's hands increases the chances of finding explosive materials. "Looking at the hands means you will probably get a better dose.” The president's fiscal 2011 budget calls for $60 million to purchase approximately 800 portable ETD machines.

Although it is a little expansive, this new swabbing of the hands is a good idea. Checking a random though, I think some people may take it a wrong way. Maybe like if its because of their race or something. It is still a great way to find any signs of explosives before they get on the plane and create a big chaos! Its good for the future, there will be little or no disasters occurring up in the air.

King Tut DNA
By: Bill Hendrick
Science

A new DNA analysis was done on Kind Tut. This is a mummy that many have been fascinated by for year. Now, people know more about him then they have every before. Studies done have showed they the king had brittle bones, he was found to have a club foot, and Malaria and may have been the cause of his death thousands of years ago. The mummy had been discovered in 1922, and since that year people had theories of how he died. Many believe that his parents were brother and sister so that mess up his chromosomes a lot making him have been born with many diseases. “The researchers say no evidence was found of genetic conditions such as Marfan's syndrome affecting connective tissue or Kleinfelter's syndrome (having an extra X chromosome) that may have explained the androgynous appearance seen in ancient art depictions of Tutankhamun and his family.” All these new discoveries have brought new questions to scientists.

This here show how much science has evolved since they first found King Tut. They do things that they didn't do before. The future of science looks good. It is forever changing. Changing in a good way.

Taylor

Women

“The head of Taylor Swift's record label is fired up and ready to defend his superstar from people who are criticizing her Grammy-night performance.” "She is the voice of this generation. She speaks directly to (her fans), and they speak directly back to her," said Big Machine Records CEO Scott Borchetta in a phone interview. "This is not `American Idol.' This is not a competition of getting up and seeing who can sing the highest note. This is about a true artist and writer and communicator. It's not about that technically perfect performance. Taylor had rehearsed her performance and duet with stevie nicks twice and everyone loved her. But once it came down to the real thing. Well, that went all wrong. Now people are saying mean things about Taylor's singing. There had been technical problems ans she couldn't hear herself.

I say this is a women article because I believe that if some other singer, a guy singer, would have messed up, no one would be saying anything. They would have blamed it on the technically but since it was a girl they do not care. For Taylor this is not looking so good. She has a good future but right now its a little rocky and it is not even her fault. For some reason I know that if it would have been a male singer no one would be saying any thing but since it a a girl...

PTSD
By: Mark Thomptson

Minnesota scientists think they have found a long-sought PTSD fingerprint that confirms the disorder. They find out by measuring electromagnetic fields in the brain. More conventional diagnostic tools, including computed tomography, magnetic-resonance imaging and X-rays have not been able to detect evidence of PTSD because their snapshots of brain activity occur too slowly. The new diagnostic procedure uses magnetoencephalography (MEG), is a way of monitoring the flow of electrical signals along to the brain's neural pathways from cell to cell. By using a helmet with 248 noninvasive sensors arrayed around the head, scientists can map patterns of electrical activity inside the skull and detect things that shouldn't be there. The PTSD research builds on earlier work that showed MEG could be used to detect Alzheimer's and multiple sclerosis in infected brains.

This is a very good thing. People can see if they are sick or not fast and easy. The future of this is looking great. Everyone can benefit from this new discovery/ updated technology.

Never stop
By: Brian Montopoli
President

President Obama had a speech in Ohio. He used the word “fighting” more than ten times and that all he thinks about is creating jobs. "So long as I have some breath in me, so long as I have the privilege of serving as your president, I won't stop fighting for you," the president said in Ohio. He says that he ran for president to confront the challenges that come alone the road. The president said he wants to work with “anybody who is willing to step up" from either party, because "I'm not going to watch more people get crushed by costs, or denied the care they need by insurance company bureaucrats.”

This is a good thing for america because it shows how obama will not stop fighting. It looks good for our future. When he was elected he made many permisses and he hopes to make them happen. He is working to make it happen but it is going to take some time. I think that its time that we don't have but pationce is the key.
